Tai Chi Caledonia 2008 11th -18th July

More images from Tai Chi Caledonia 2008 are in the Tai Chi Caledonia 2008 Gallery.

This year, our 13th event moved to July instead of our usual June time - so was it unlucky for us? - Certainly not! Whether it was the time shift, the teachers, or the increasing good reports of the event, our numbers were up considerably, I’m guessing it was a combination of all three and something to do with the way the wind was blowing.

I’ve received a number of emails and letters testifying to the overall satisfaction of our attendees (which will be posted in due course) and I’m also acutely aware of the negative aspects of the event:

Before leaving on Friday morning I spent an hour at the office discussing how things went and our requirements for next year. They were extremely helpful, offering some new ideas and will finalise our booking by early September.

Having said all of the above I must report that according to many of our guests, 2008 saw our best event yet. The quality of teaching was exceptional with all teachers offering deep insights into the various aspects of the arts, whilst patiently enabling a comfortable learning experience for their students.

The demonstrations at the castle were first-class and the location provided an incredibly awesome backdrop to the wonderful performances. - Thanks to Gill Crawford for helping to arrange it!

It seems that the highlight for many was the beautifully created Certificate of Attendance, by our Master Calligrapher, Wang Ning. - It seems that all who received one greatly treasured it.

Thanks to all the teachers who gave of their best:
- Bob Lowey, Sam Masich, Franco Mescola, Wang Ning, Jan Silberstorff, Paul Silfverstrale, Sue Woodd, Faye Yip and Luigi Zanini.

Thanks to all the incredibly willing, friendly and good-natured ‘invaluable assistants’:
- Heather Budge, Judith Crawford, Aileen Cromar, Alison Gardiner, Audrey Hillis, Stuart Mackay, Ben Morris & Andrea Zimmerman.

Thanks too to the regular guests who have become so attached to our little event that they offer help and assistance from doing the dishes to guiding newcomers:
- Trevor Rooke, Al Scott, Barrie Jehu, Pam Ladd and Joyce Hurd, who sadly couldn’t make it but still helped out from afar!

A continued big thanks to Karen who deals with every aspect from proofing the programme to safely escorting our last guest of the campus. She deserves a big hug but would probably just slap me if I tried to!

Finally, my deepest gratitude to all of you, who, in these tough economic times, chose to spend your hard-earned money in joining us in Scotland. I hope that your lives have been enriched by your time spent with us, and that through your continued good practice you will continue to receive benefit throughout your lives.
