Luigi Zanini can't come!

A message from Ronnie:

Dear Folks
Less than 1 week ago I received communication from Luigi Zanini that he is unable to attend this year's Tai Chi Caledonia due to unforeseen circumstances which he is really sorry about.

I have spent the past few days working to secure the services of a suitable replacement and am delighted to be able to tell you that Ed Hines will now join us in place of Luigi.

Below I have included his biography along with details of what he will teach. I have known Ed for many years and he is a very serious practitioner with extensive experience in Bagua and Taiji, he is more than capable and will add much to the event. Timings for the weekend sessions will be updated as soon a possible.

Edward Hines has been involved in martial arts for most of his life, starting with boxing with St Pancras Boy’s Club in the 1970’s, and starting Taiji in 1983. In 1991 he moved to the Taipei, in Taiwan Republic of China where he became an ‘indoor’ student of internationally renowned teacher Luo De Xiu. He also studied with Tao Ping Xiang, and Liu Hse Heng in Yang (Cheng Man Ching) Taiji.

Monday – Thursday Topic: Circles in Bagua

As well as the circles that we walk in Bagua, there are many other circles that you can find in forms and applications. If you understand the similarity between these different circles, and learn to connect them fluidly then they are not only a pleasure to explore but also a rich source of applications that you can adapt to any situation.

Weekend Topics: Structure and fluidity, Distance, angle and attitude & Presence and meditation in circle walking

environmental arts projects

At this year's Tai Chi Caledonia (2009) we introduced the idea of creating environmental arts projects with the residents who were attending for the week. Using only natural materials that could be found on the campus they paired up two chalets together to work on creating a piece of art from what was on hand. Despite some initial sneers the vast majority applied themselves with great relish and produced some inspiring pieces of work. - Congratulations to the winners Grainne and Debbie Hamilton and Faye Yip who created a wonderful Fan performer from cherry pips and leaves!

All the entries can be viewed on the Gallery
